Tell us a bit about yourself:
Hello everybody. My name is Riccardo De Gennaro. Currently I am living in Luzern CH but I grew up in Basel CH. I am 30 years old and this is my DJ story. Enjoy!Once I turned 17, my older friends took me to a techno club for the first time. As soon as I put my feet on the dancefloor, I felt the bass and heard the sound and all the unique voices of the various songs. Speechless I looked to the bunch of people cheering for the DJ, applauding and smiling. The happiness and positive emotions coming from those people felt amazing. I was enchanted by the passion linking all those people around me. Music. This and many other experiences I made at “Nordstern Club” in Basel CH, “Das Schiff Club” in Basel CH or at “Das Viertel” (once “Hinterhof Club”) in Basel CH inspired me to change the side of the dancefloor and stand behind the DJ desk myself. I also wanted to make people applaude and see them dancing and moving to my music. For my 18. birthday, my friends decided to bu me my very first DJ desk. From this day on I am practicing and improving my skills as a DJ. IN those 9 years I was able to performe in a lot of events. Now it’s time to make the next step in my DJ career IBIZA.
How did you get into DJing?
When I was younger, my older friends took me to the clubs. That’s when I felt the energy of house, techno and tech house music. I was excited and convinced from the beginning that I wanted to be a DJ.
What DJs have had the most influence on you?
First Hot Since 82His diversity in music production as well as the energy and vibe in his set/mix are unique. For me he is my absolute favouritethen Dennis Cruz wow his tricks on the mixing desk how he mixes the different tracks into each other an artist. and what he produces for music just awesome (thanks Dennis). Finally Andrea Oliva because he is also from Switzerland like me. At the beginning of his DJ career he often played in my favourite club in Switzerland (Nordstern Basel). That makes me dream and hope to be as successful a DJ as Andrea Oliva one day.
You’re being put to death, but you can listen to one last track before you die. What track do you choose?

Press the Play button 🙂
And what’s the hardest thing about being a DJ?
If you’re not a big DJ star like me, it’s hard to manage everything. Like posting good photos on social media, producing music at the same time as playing good big gigs…
