Tell us a bit about yourself:
Hi my name is mark lennon and I have been djing for almost 10 years now! I have been producing my own material the past year and a half.I am from Dublin, Ireland and have played in some venues across the country. And also played in San Antonio Ibiza before. My main music aspirations would be from Swedish house right down to Eli brown/camelphat etc! I have always been a fan of music when I was younger and could never sit still, always tapping some rhythm somewhere. One day a old friend of mine showed me his set of 1000s and was popping these cds into it. I watched him for a short time and fell in love, he then asked me to hop on and give it a go, I did that, and from that moment on 10 years ago i have not stopped pursuing it. One of my first ever club gigs was in the biggest venue in the country ( the Wright venue) from that moment on i knew I could go some places with this. And here we are! I hope yous like my mix! Enjoy!
How did you get into DJing?
Friend handed over a set of 1000s in his room and i instantly fell in love. Haven’t stopped one single day since!
What DJs have had the most influence on you?
Swedish house mafia (in the old days) old axtone, size etc! Even all them individually ( in the air, nothing but love, leave the world behind) I especially fell in love with the old style of house they made with them short stabby synths forming over the groovy lows and mids! Old house music like that inspires me. Camelphat – camelphat just make music that creats great emotional response to the music! Ajuna deep/defected have always been another side of me too that I loved , I used to love the likes of Sam Devine and Dario on deffcted as that classic house music scene was big in Ireland with the likes of sin nightclub back then. Then the ajunadeep side of the things showed me a different side of music with the likes of nox vahn creating masterpieces like “come together” for example! Productions that i appreciate so much!
You’re being put to death, but you can listen to one last track before you die. What track do you choose?
Leave the world behind – shm
What’s your favourite thing about Ibiza?
The atmosphere is just incredible, that moment you step of the plane, just knowing it’s history, it’s a reallly special place for this scene and for me! Il never forgot the moment I stepped foot in The big clubs/ amnesia/Pacha etc!Unbelievable! I always said to myself one il be up in the driving seat looking down!
What’s the easiest thing about being a DJ?
Getting to share a room with people and experience moments money just can’t buy.
And what’s the hardest thing about being a DJ?
Making sure you set the right mood and cultivate the right atmosphere in order for the right experience for the club goers!
Best thing about Dance Music culture right now?
The crossover of rnb artists making house beats. Great exposure for house music and in general more ears and eyes onto this side of the Industry.
Worst thing about Dance Music culture right now?
Over use of phones on the dance floor. Sometimes people forget to enjoy the moment rather than looking for the next cool video, but I guess it’s just the times we living in.
Why should listeners vote for you?
I would appreciate any votes greatly as I have been doing this 10 years and would love the fact of been able to possibly make this my full career and just been giving that chance to make use of that one break. I believe I have the skills/drive and talent to become a well established artist in the scene. I just believe I deserve that one break and would make the most of the opportunity if given. Any support is much appreciated and I hope yous enjoy the mix, I decided to do a sunset mix with the idea being a blend of some nice beautiful house music young & old! That’s all from me! Thank you!
