Tell us a bit about yourself:
Ian Carpenter (* 1988 in Padua) is an Italian DJ and producer in the field of electronic music.
In the year 2004, at the age of 16, I came across electronic music. Since then I have worked occasionally as a PR and Dj at Le Palais (Padua). Working as a PR quickly led me to organizing many parties in my hometown. Shortly thereafter, I founded my own record label Trip Records and started playing as DJ Katty Smyle. At that time I was a resident DJ in the “Arancia Meccanica” Club.
In 2015 I participated in the Burn Residency contest, winning the selection as the best Italian DJ. In 2018 After 11 years, I changed his stage name to DJ Ian Carpenter.
In 2020 I won the contest organized by BillBoard Italia (Next +) confirming myself as the best emerging Italian DJ. Also this year I started collaborating with DJ and producer Philipp Straub with a completely innovative release entitled Eclipse published under the Bedrock records label by DJ and producer John Digweed. Currently my last album released is in October 2021 with the Balance Music label.
I am collaborating with international DJs, and he is the co-developer with Simone Santagati of the Efimera party held in Catania with the patronage of the Municipality, an ambitious project, to enhance the cultural heritage of the area through electronic music. I live in Catania with my family.

What’s your favourite thing about Ibiza?
above all things the lifestyle of the island, always active 24/24 the island that lives both day and night. Splendid sea and breathtaking clubs what more could you want?
What’s the easiest thing about being a DJ?
And whats the hardest thing about being a DJ?
there is nothing easy, it is a job in all respects from the production of releases to collaborations with other DJs taking dates and getting involved at all hours of the day. The beautiful thing for me is the passion for this job and above all the music
Best thing about Dance Music culture right now?
Unfortunately I struggle to find it.
Worst thing about Dance Music culture right now?
The culture for electronic music is fading and in the last few years very quickly, too many restrictions and then the covid has helped us too. A solution should be found to bring the club back to the youngest.
Why should listeners vote for you?
I hope my DJ set makes a difference, and that the music speaks for me.
