Tell us a bit about yourself:
My name is Notorious Lynch from Cork, Ireland but, based in the USA now near San Diego. I play a mix of House, Tech House, and Tribal Latin vibes as well. Don’t be shocked if you hear some Funk and Disco sprinkled in along the way. I also produce my own music, host a monthly radio show on Data Transmission, and recently started my own record label called One Dance Left.
How did you get into DJing?
I was always into music, heavily into Hip Hop & RnB from a young age. I was convinced by a classmate D, and his brother B to host my own Hip Hop show on a local pirate radio station called Klub FM around the year 2000. Once I saw the House DJ’s coming in, spinning and mixing it up on the vinyl decks, I was sold. I bought a set of Numark CD Mix decks, mixed the same 2 house songs over and over for days until I learned to mix, and the rest is history.
What DJs have had the most influence on you?
Roger Sanchez (Technical Ability), Jazzy Jeff (Music Curation), Kerri Chandler (Raw Energy).
You’re being put to death, but you can listen to one last track before you die. What track do you choose?
Frank Sinatra – My Way
What’s your favourite thing about Ibiza?
This will sound cliché but, the atmosphere on the island, in general, is intense. There is definitely something magical about the island, everyone seems to be on the same wavelength there.
What’s the easiest thing about being a DJ?
Counting to 4!
And what’s the hardest thing about being a DJ?
Social Media (for some of us)!
Best thing about Dance Music culture right now?
Commercialization, bringing Dance Music to the mainstream is creating a lot more opportunities for everyone. Drake just dropped a Dance Album. Everyone wants to get involved!
Worst thing about Dance Music culture right now?
Producers/Artists not getting proper streaming revenues. A lot of work goes into producing a quality finished track but, it’s impossible to make a living from it these days unless you are streaming regularly in the millions.
Why should listeners vote for you?
I’m terrible at these things but, if you like the mix, my music, what you read here and see on my socials, I’d love this opportunity, and appreciate every single vote. It will be hard for you to find anyone grinding harder than me. It’s 24/7 for the most part between promoting, social media, producing new music, the radio show, and trying to build/run the label as well. Whatever happens here, I’ll keep driving forward. Cheers
